On 8th July 2016, Burhan Wani, a 21-year old commander of the terrorist group Hizbul Mujahideen, was killed in an encounter in Kashmir. This in itself was not surprising. Kashmir is the most militarized region in the world — and one of the most restive. Terrorists often get captured or killed in police and military encounters.
What was surprising was what happened later. An external observer would’ve expected the death of a terrorist to be highly welcomed by local residents. However, not only was the region marked by a stark absence of celebratory mood, but instead of a wave of…
The Hong Kong riots of 2019 witnessed widespread arson and looting. Shops and small business were vandalized and their goods stolen. It is said that a few rioters stole so much — they turned British.
For there are perhaps few nations that have stolen as much from rest of the world as Great Britain. The British even stole the word “loot” from India, and as Indian politician Shashi Tharoor once put it, they adopted it into their dictionaries as well as their habits.
The Battle of Waterloo may have been won on the playing fields of Eton, but Eton (and…

It is often said that obfuscation is the purpose of journalism. And when China is involved, journalism gets reduced to a free-for-all orgy — wherein the journalist knows that absolutely anything will be believed as long as China is being portrayed as the villain.
The starting point is the Presumption of Guilt. Nothing that China ever does is enough. A few examples:

China recently revoked the license of the BBC — after it refused to apologize for its racist reporting and for advocating violence against Chinese people. The BBC is a British state-owned, racist propaganda outlet that spreads lies and misinformation about China. It’s reporting on COVID-19 has been so racist, it is contributing to a significant rise in hate crimes against East Asian diaspora in the West.
Like most British propaganda organs such as The Guardian and The Economist, BBC’s reporting on China is largely driven by the White Savior Complex. …

Great Britain has many reasons to feel great about itself. Its empire was the largest in history and covered over a fifth of the world’s population. It had more colonies than any other European power. It came, it saw, it divided, and it conquered.
It raped and it reaped, it slaughtered millions of people, massacred entire populations, and caused civil wars with impunity. Racism was its state policy. It sucked the life out of its colonies and reduced them to what we now call “third-world” nations. It drew and redrew boundaries and…
It’s the China Uncertainty Principle. A Quantum Theory of China. It’s NOT that China is rising, it’s NOT that China is collapsing, it’s NOT that China is first rising and then collapsing — it is in fact doing BOTH simultaneously.
Just as light is both a particle and a wave simultaneously, China is both rising and collapsing at the same time. When China is observed (or “watched”) by a ‘China Watcher’, it’s two states will coalesce, and China will assume the position that most suits the person’s argument.

It seems to be the season of coup attempts. After losing the US Presidential election last year, the then President Donald Trump incited his followers to stage a coup — which failed spectacularly. Trump eventually caved and reluctantly left office, leaving his successor inmate with a highly unclean slate to run the asylum.
One arm of the regime fighting the other with lies and conspiracy theories is common in US politics. …

A single death is a tragedy, while that of a million, just statistics, goes a popular saying. For the western media, that has long forgotten the millions of deaths caused by US wars, the tragic death of one man in China couldn’t have come at a better time.
While the whole of China expressed condolences over the unfortunate demise of Dr. Li Wenliang, the western media erupted in glee. …

It is often said that the average American cares only about three things: his Gun, his God, and his Hamburger. Unfortunately, neither is particularly useful in a health crisis. For it is in this once-in-a-century pandemic that we see the true face of America.
In order to determine a country’s true national strength, it helps to look at how its people and leaders behave during a crisis. COVID-19 has killed more Americans than all US invasions of all nations since World War II. …
